Yellowstone National Park WY - 18 September 2014

Yellowstone National Park WY - 18 September 2014

I felt that I’d had a great appreciation of some of Yellowstone the previous evening so the girls left me at our wonderful accommodation to spend a day of ‘catch up’ while they went out to explore more of the fascinating treasures that the Park had to offer.

They came back brimming with news about all the things they’d seen. They’d been to the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Centre.

They’d got up close and personal with a grizzly shaking a tree to bring down some bird seed that their keepers had hidden for them to find. Each day the keepers work hard to enrich the environment of the eight bears which have grown up in captivity.

And they also managed to get quite close to the wolves. The Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Centre’s Mission is to provide visitors with a unique opportunity to learn about, observe and appreciate the grizzly bear and ‘gray’ wolf.

To satisfy their love of waterfalls, they drove on to Gibbon Falls.

They took heaps of photos of these magnificent Falls.

They saw more bison, one at very close quarters!

They found a group of bull deer taking their leisure beside the Madison River.

And they enjoyed visiting the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River.

Small by comparison with the Grand Canyon in Nevada, but impressive nonetheless. It was definitely a day for them to remember and an opportunity to get out amongst many of the animals in the wild.

Having had a great opportunity to explore with more time to linger, we enjoyed our last night at 320 Guest Ranch and prepared for some more travelling tomorrow.
